We require full payment before your order is manufactured and shipped. We accept VISA, MasterCard, and Discover credit cards, and checks.
Sales Tax Exemption
Organizations located in Ohio, Indiana or Kentucky will need to provide a copy of their Sales Tax Exemption form, otherwise sale tax will be applied.
Our Customer Service Department will prepare a shipping quote for you. Any product that is shipped freight will require an elevated loading dock to be unloaded properly. If your organization doesn’t have access to an elevated loading dock or a forklift for getting product from the truck bed to the ground, STAFF WILL NEED TO BE PROVIDED TO HAND UNLOAD THE TRUCK.
Manufacturing and Shipping
As soon as we receive the signed sales order and payment, the manufacturing process will begin—allow approximately four weeks for your products to be made and shipped out. Our Customer Service Department will notify you when your order has shipped. The carrier will also contact you to schedule the delivery date and time.
In Store Pick-up
You have the option of picking up your products at our Cincinnati location at no additional charge. If you wish to pick up your items, just let us know at the time you place the order and we will contact you once your items are ready for pick-up. When you arrive at our shop, our staff will be happy to assist you in loading your vehicle, however, you must provide all tie-downs and straps and we will not take any responsibility for securing products to your vehicle or for any damage caused to your vehicle or products during loading, or while in transit. Finally, we reserve the right to not load any vehicle we deem unfit to safely hold and/or transport our products.
Our products are made from a variety of high quality materials:
Natural Wood Products
Products made from tree logs and natural wood products will contain some cracks or splits from the wood drying out over time, but this will only add to their beauty, natural inclination and ability to teach children about natural processes, but will not reduce structural integrity. As wood ages moisture will evaporate and it will become lighter, bark will fall off and stress cracks and fissures will appear, but this is normal and creates wonderful opportunities for children to learn about the natural properties of trees and wood.
The sheet plastics we use on our products are made of the exact same material you would find on a plastic panel on commercial playground equipment at any park or school. The sheet plastic varies in thickness according to its structural needs and its location. The sheet plastic is a high density polyethylene sheet (HDPE) that is environmentally stabilized for outdoor use and ultraviolet rays. It comes in bright primary colors as well as greens and tans.
Recycled Plastic Lumber
Structural components are made of lumber dimensioned recycled plastic materials. Approximately 8 milk jugs (#2 plastic) are used in every pound of recycled plastic lumber. As a building material, recycled plastic is long lasting, maintenance free, solid, nontoxic, non-leaching and colorfast. Our recycled plastic lumber is a high density polyethylene (HDPE) plastic that has had colorants added to it. The boards are solid color with pigment throughout and provide a consistent color and uniformity even after it has been cut, scratched, or nicked. The recycled plastic lumber has an ultraviolet stabilizer in it, which has been added at the time of manufacturing to help protect against UV light degradation.
Polycarbonate is a transparent material that we use in items such as our Art Easels, Weaving Panels, and Drum Panel. It is a very strong and durable material that is also impact resistant.
Maintenance of Plastic
Our plastic products do not require painting or sealing. With these products, the only thing you will need to maintain is to be sure fasteners are tight, mainly after any seasonal weather changes in temperature between cold and hot, such as from winter to summer. The expanding and contracting of materials is standard in all playground equipment.
Durability of Plastic
The size and type of materials we choose to use are based on the high school football team stopping by to play late in the evening and trying to stand on your equipment or play with the equipment as a 250 pound adult.
A Limited Warranty is hereby provided by THE ADVENTUROUS CHILD to the Purchaser(s) that the Project/Product(s) are free from defects in material and workmanship for a period of one (1) year from the date of shipment under normal use at the location specified herein. Any such defects will be repaired or Product(s) will be replaced, at our option, upon return to The Adventurous Child. [See Return Policy].
This Limited Warranty excludes any obligation for INCIDENTAL or CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES related to the Project/Product(s). This Limited Warranty shall inure to the benefit of the original Purchaser(s) only.
All equipment will wear with use, and no guarantee is made against normal deterioration. We recommend you establish a regular inspection program of all equipment, fittings and support systems to guard against injury. Any alteration of equipment or use in a non-recommended fashion voids all warranties.
All returns and repairs require prior authorization by the Customer Service Department. You may contact the Customer Service Department Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., EST.

Return shipping expenses are to be paid by the customer except for the following:
- Customer received defective merchandise.
- Received incorrect item due to The Adventurous Child’s error.
All returned merchandise must be in new, resalable condition. Refund will not be issued for items returned in non-resalable condition. The customer is responsible for properly packaging and protecting the item(s) for shipment back to The Adventurous Child.
Once the returned item(s) have been received, inspected, and confirmed to be in resalable condition The Adventurous Child will issue a refund check to the original purchaser.
Custom made and special order items are non-returnable.
