The Root Garden allows children to experience the benefits
of gardening by planting and then being able to open doors
and observe the roots growing. Many times when vegetable
roots receive sunlight the vegetables become bitter and
the roots tend to grow away from sunlight. The doors
allow the area to stay dark (except during the children’s
observation) and allow the plants to grow.
